The Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu

In this page we will talk about the Shih Tzu; his character and temperament, his standard in brief discover this wonderful dog thru our eyes!

The Loveboby Shih Tzu, a pure breed dog.

To resume the Shih Tzu's character: put a few traits from a lion, a couple of tea spoon of rabbit, two ounces of domestic cat, a little bit of Ballerina, a hint of an old Chinese Wise-man, some juice of monkey fun, a part of baby seal and a pinch of teddy bear.
That recipe is exactly the trait of a Shih Tzu and will give you a general ideal of its ever changing persona. But make sure that these qualities are constant one generation to the other, just like their beautiful physical aspect.

As a rule the Shih Tzu is a remarkably smart dog that has a joy of living. He is happy, playful and often a little rascal! If during a Canine Show when you admire a Shih Tzu, with hair down, sophisticated to the max with a thick coat waiving in the air with grace to the rhythm of his footsteps, his crowing Top-Knot, enormous mustaches of an old Mandarin Wise-man you will be very far away from the image he will give in the intimacy of the home. When he runs like crazy dozens of times around the park, in fresh herb or in snow, or when he jumps in the aisle like a kid or plays hide-and-seek in a flower bush with friends you then realize he his a Shinning Star, a little devil who moves fast like a rocket, stops on a dime, stays put like a statue for a second or two, and for no reason goes back to blazing speed again!  He can play like this for hours. But all of a sudden it’s the great calm. He sleeps or at least he pretends to, his head put flat between his front legs stretched to the front and his back legs stretched back as far has he can. He can stay like this for the longest time; absolutely still only his eyes will remain alive, tracking your every move! And it will be your responsibility to avoid him as you pass around him because when he is home he is the center point of the world!

In Tibet the Shih Tzu is a family member and a good luck charm. So in any case he couldn't do anything reprehensible and we think this as rooted deeply in him. Moreover, when scolded for any nonsense, he takes air completely bewildered and indignant, as appropriate. Anyway, he wants you to believe that there is absolutely no reason why you should be angry!

In China, in the imperial palace he had his staff of eunuch to look after him. He was treated with great respect ... But the story of his past is largely present in its attitude and it plays an important role in the formation of his very special character. In particular, a great facility to copy what he sees other dogs do. At home he is quite homely. He loves his chair, his bed and he has a clear preference for all that is soft and comfortable. He sighs extraordinarily when he found the right place to rest. Some snore of well-being and sleep on their backs with 4 legs spread wide apart, his head on the pillow.

The Term: company dog couldn't suit any one better then the Shih Tzu. He knows everything about you. He understand when he needs or should be forgotten or on the contrary when he came come and play with you. A Shih Tzu dog is always at his place. He is never obtrusive or annoying. He really is a Big Little dog!!

It's because this dog is an exceptional one by he physical aspect that he will please you. But know one thing: A Shih Tzu must be deserved and won over. He will be they way you make him, and the same dog depending how you treat him will either be an emperor or a mop.

Nothing is worst then a dirty and uncared for Shih Tzu. If you neither have the competence or the courage to clean him regularly, to groom him and to nurture him, well perhaps you should look at another breed. All the caring and attention that you will give his grooming must also take into account the psychological side as well. The Shih Tzu is first and foremost an intelligent and intentioned dog. He needs permanent psychological contacts to allow the maximum development of his psyche. If this is true for all dogs in general it is essential for the Shih Tzu dog.

While it has always been considered to be a full part being in China and Tibet; it's because he has finesse and a deep understanding of human beings that creates the phenomenon of osmosis between him and his master.

If you bring the spirit alive of your Shih Tzu puppy, if you give him access to your deep personality, you will enter even at a very young age in a deep communion with him that will only end with his own life. Be worthy of him. LOVE him deeply because once the Shih Tzu is yours its permanent.

Never forget his high and noble origins and treat him like a lord because he is one.
